112,000-Plus Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xes, Wrangler 4xes Recalled for Fire Risk
Stellantis is recalling more than 112,000 examples of its Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid SUVs over an issue with the engine that may lead to a fire. (Stellantis is Jeep’s parent automaker.) This missive comes just days after the automaker recalled more than 320,000 examples of the vehicles over a separate issue with the battery that poses a fire risk.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2023-25 Grand Cherokee 4xes and model-year 2024-25 Wrangler 4xes. Debris in the engine may cause the engine to fail, resulting in a loss of motive power or an engine compartment fire.
The remedy for the issue is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 29; in the meantime, owners with further questions may contact Stellantis at 800-853-1403 (its number for this recall is 78C), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
